The Ministry and Mission of Pastor & Reverend DS & SS
Hi friends! After graduating from seminary, S and I recognized that we were in a season of life where we could and should test our education. We made a decision to live out our faith outside our comfort zones. We didn’t want to only believe that God was a big God, but we wanted to see how big God is and to learn firsthand how the Bible is relevant to people all over the world. We decided to invest our lives in testing the truths of Scripture wherever God placed us. The world became our laboratory. After living abroad and serving on the mission field for over 15 years in 4 international cities (Montreal, Seoul, Taipei, Vancouver) in 3 different countries, we returned to the United States in 2020. Our time away had a profound effect on our lives. After having experienced deeply the power and leading of the Holy Spirit through mistakes, trials, perseverance, joy and delight, we returned to America hoping to settle down. We were surprised to discover that America is as much a mission field as the foreign countries we served overseas. Everywhere we looked, we experienced a weakened or “shadow” version of Christianity. During the last couple of years, in this time of "resetting” and reacclimation, the Lord began to clarify my unique calling to raise, encourage, deploy, and support outstanding leaders who are longing for more. Instead of starting my own church, I began to utilize all I learned on the field to revitalize workers, boards, and organizations towards deeper intimacy with Christ. There was so much fruit and Divine activity that I realized the need to focus and channel my time in this area. Through much wrestling, prayer and counsel, the vision for my mission work both in America and throughout the world was born. It continues to be shaped and formed as “the Lord is the potter and we are the clay.” (Isaiah 64:8)
Your intentional prayers and resourcing empowers me to be nimble, action-oriented, (faith!) and free from limiting structures that impede the Lord’s good, pleasing, and perfect will from being done. |
